History 

Alaska has a lot of history. It started when Russia discovered Alaska. Then in the 1700's Russia  sailed over to Alaska. Then there was the Crimean War against Russia, United Kingdom, France, and the Ottoman Empire. It was hard for Russia to control Alaska from Moscow. Russia worried  about another war with the United Kingdom, British, and Canada. They worried they  would take Alaska. After the American Civil War, the United States of America purchased  Alaska from Russia on 1867 for 7 million US dollars. Alaska became a state in 1950`s and was the 49th state in the Union.
